1. Crumple zones: crash into wall
Simulations used:
Crumple zones:  into wall
You may also want to print out the composite graphs that this worksheet refers to.

Two cars crash into a wall - one has crumple zones. What difference does this make to the car and its passengers?
The worksheet starts off looking at how different parts of the two cars behave in the collision, then moves on to analysing the passanger compartment acceleration and velocity graphs.

2. Crumple zones: crash into wall - energy changes
Simulations used:
Crumple zones:  into wall
This worksheet refers to the same composite graphs as worksheet 1.

A supplementary worksheet looking at the energy changes both cars undergo.

3. Crumple zones: shunt collisions
Simulations used:
Crumple zones: shunt

Two cars (one of them with crumple zones) are hit by a truck. What happens to all three vehicles?

4. Head-on collisions: effects of crumple zones and vehicles size
Simulations used:
Head-on collisions between vehicles: with & without crumple zonesof different sizes

Investigate the effect of crumple zones and vehicle size on the outcome of head-on collisions.
Research and discuss safety and environmental issues of larger vehicles (esp. SUVs).

5. Effect of speed and crumple zones on collision forces
Simulations used:
Speed: no crumple zones / crumple zones
You may also want to print out the composite graphs that this worksheet refers to.

What difference does a crumple zone make to how a car slows in a higher velocity collision?
